Aladdin (2019)

I have seen the original Aladdin animated movie many times as well as the cartoon TV series. I've always loved it. So this review may be biased.

The new live action Aladdin has gotten the short end of the stick, but I couldn't be happier with it. It was of course a hit in the emotional crotch to see anyone other then Robin Williams play the genie, but Will Smith did an incredible job.

My absolute favorite part of the entire movie was the scene where Aladdin comes into the city pretending to be a prince. It is a big musical number that I ended up going back and re watching 3 or 4 times before I continued on with the movie, I then went back and watched it again after the movie.

One major difference between the animated movie and the live action movie is the Sultan. In the animated movie he was a small kinda dopey man where in the movie he didn't come across that way. Another problem I had with it was Iago. I wish they had brought Gilbert Gottfried back as the voice of Iago.

The good: It's a live action of a classic from my childhood. It follows the same story line with very little changes.
The Bad: When it comes to the classic remakes it can be hard to accept changes in the characters or their voices.
The Bottom Line: If you like musicals, or you enjoyed the animated movie you have to give this a try, I cant see you regretting it.
